From Gemini AI:

" The highest yield on 10-year US Treasury bonds in the 1980s was 15.84% in September 1981, according to Trading Economics. This marked an all-time high for the yield. The average yield for 1981 was 13.92%, and the high yield for 1980 was 13.65%, according to Macrotrends. "

I was in my late 20's in the 1980's and my first mortgage on my first home was 12.87pct. It was painful ( in fact I lost my job soon after and had to turn in my house to the bank). But I survived and the country survived. I wish there was a 4.5pct 10 Yr Treasury rate then. So much panic with today's generation spoilt on the low rates driven by QE1,2,3, etc.
